Dear friends,
It seems like it was yesterday when we had the first Haitian Day Parade in New York City in 2002. Well, believe it or not this coming Memorial weekend will make it ten years.
The Haitian Day Parade is the closing of the "Haitian Heritage Month" which is May. May has great historical and cultural traditions that all Haitians are proud to make others aware of and to pass on to future generations.
Indeed, we have met quite a few bumps; but as we learned early on with "hard work and determination" nothing can stop us. And Leonard Cohen could not put it any better for us: "Act the way you'd like to be and soon you'll be the way you act." Indeed, we still have a very long way to go. We know we're not there yet; but we also know we're on the right track and we'll get there.
